Road Map for the Application of Building Information Modeling in Greece

The results of the Coordinating Working Committee for the development of a Strategic Plan and Roadmap for the Application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) in Greece, established by the Minister of Infrastructure with the participation of PEDMEDE as well as other high-ranking officials of Ministries and Academic Institutions was presented in BIM Conference in Athens on October 2023.

The result now comes with a series of free training days on the use of BIM in Construction in the framework of the project “Development of a strategic plan and roadmap for the implementation of BIM in Greece”, in collaboration with DG REFORM and the Project Contractor PwC.

The integrated training programme, which included both theoretical and practical training of the participants, referred to the following main thematic sections:

  • BIM Basics (ISO 19650, benefits and capabilities of BIM)
  • Use of BIM in the design phase of the project
  • Use of BIM in the construction phase of the project
  • Use of BIM in the project management phase
  • Presentation of standard BIM specification templates (OIR, PIR, EIR, AIR)

The trainings took place online March 1-3 and 15-17, the participation was free and addressed to all executives of the wider Research and Construction Branch. A total of 975 engineering professionals from the public and private sectors were trained, enriching their knowledge in the use of BIM, digital tools and capabilities. The BIM training program aimed to promote the use of BIM by enhancing knowledge and skills as well as informing the Design and Construction Sector about digital tools and its capabilities.
